2K Brings Onboard Apex Legends Producer to Boost Challenged Action Game Project Ethos

2K Games has welcomed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to oversee the development team at their internal studio, which is currently working on the anticipated third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Leadership Change Follows Mixed Reception

Brinkman assumes the leadership position at the development studio following the dismissal of previous head Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' lackluster initial reveal last fall.

Recently, 2K president David Ismailer updated team members about this decision through an official communication, which emphasized that playtesting had revealed the necessity for a clearer game identity.

Ismailer expressed that the developers is now reimagining the project with a renewed focus, aiming to address gamer demands.

A Pattern of Key Acquisitions

The news follows a similar move taken by 2K Games in August, when they brought on Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to work on the BioShock development group.

Below is the complete content from Ismailer's communication:

Hello Everyone—

I know you all just finished your gathering - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the positive developments. Last time I shared you all a note, I stated the following: “I believe in this crew. You all are some of the most driven and talented developers we have had the chance to collaborate with - and we’re excited for that collaboration to endure.”

Through your commitment and flexibility, particularly over the last year, you consistently demonstrate that.

The community feedback from last fall’s Project ETHOS playtest was informative. It affirmed the potential of a roguelike shooter but indicated we still had improvements to make. It uncovered the requirement for a more distinct brand.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve advanced. You embraced the input to mind and overhauled Project ETHOS with a revitalized vision - one that’s poised to achieve its potential to our fans.

The belief in this project strengthens every day. To boost the remarkable development you’ve made, I’m excited to introduce the new hire as the incoming Director of 31st Union. After a period of talks, he comes aboard us on next week.

Ben’s leadership and experience in the PVP shooter space is considerable, having devoted the past decade and a half creating and managing some of the most popular franchises in the industry, for example Call of Duty: Black Ops, and more recently, Apex Legends.

Let’s together in welcoming him next week. We are all looking forward to continue witnessing the development of Project ETHOS in the weeks to follow.

The President

"Challenge the competition with fresh skills, risks, and obstacles that change every round. Will you withdraw carefully with your hard-earned loot? Or take a risk, gamble everything, and pray your squad can earn top ranking? The choice is in your hands."

The game has not yet received an confirmed release date or platforms, but enthusiasts can expect more updates as creation continues.
